Job Summary: We are committed to maintaining a fleet of well-kept vehicles and equipment for our operations and are seeking a skilled and reliable Small Engine Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining small engines used in outdoor equipment, including but not limited to lawnmowers, chainsaws, snowblowers, and various power tools. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of engine mechanics, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a passion for hands-on work. You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of our fleet, contributing to the overall efficiency of our operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose mechanical issues in small engines and equipment, identifying the root cause of malfunctions.
- Perform regular maintenance on small engine equipment, including oil changes, air filter replacements, spark plug checks, and fuel system cleaning.
- Repair or replace faulty components such as carburetors, ignition systems, and electrical parts.
- Test and adjust engines to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
- Ensure equipment is functioning safely and in compliance with industry standards.
- Communicate effectively regarding repairs, maintenance schedules, and costs.
- Order parts and supplies as needed, maintaining an inventory of commonly used items.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Time and experience as a small engine mechanic or in a similar role for a minimum of 3 years.
- In-depth knowledge of small engine mechanics and troubleshooting techniques.
- Familiarity with tools and equipment used in engine repair.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication.
- Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform manual tasks.
- Must have own tools.
Working Conditions:
