Job Summary: The Fleet Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing the company’s fleet of vehicles and equipment, ensuring they are in optimal working condition. This role involves diagnosing mechanical issues, performing routine maintenance, and carrying out repairs to minimize downtime and ensure fleet safety and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform regular maintenance and repairs on a variety of vehicles in the fleet, including trucks, vans, and other specialized vehicles and equipment.
  • Inspect vehicles for mechanical issues, including engine performance, brakes, electrical systems, and suspension.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical problems using diagnostic tools and manuals.
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake checks.
  • Repair or replace worn or damaged parts, including engines, transmissions, belts, and hoses.
  • Ensure all repairs meet company standards and safety regulations.
  • Maintain detailed service records for each vehicle, documenting inspections, repairs, and maintenance.
  • Keep accurate inventory of parts and supplies, and order replacement parts as needed.
  • Coordinate with drivers and other departments to ensure minimal disruption to the fleet’s operations.
  • Perform emergency repairs as needed to avoid significant downtime.
  • Ensure all vehicles meet safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Stay updated on the latest automotive technology, repair techniques, and safety standards.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a mechanic, with a focus on fleet or vehicle maintenance for a minimum of 3 years.
  • Must have own tools.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle systems, including engines, transmission, electrical, and brake systems.
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues accurately and efficiently.
  • Experience with diagnostic tools and software.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift heavy parts and equipment and work in various weather conditions.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in a workshop environment, with frequent bending, kneeling, and standing.
  • Ability to work with heavy machinery and tools.
